How We Got Here

The NMDOT, in cooperation with FHWA, studied a section of the I-25 Corridor (from NM 47/Broadway Interchange to 1-40/1-25 Interchange) in 2014 while completing the I-25 South Corridor Study Phase 1A Final Report.  The 2014 study identified several factors within the corridor such as aging infrastructure, operational deficiencies, and geometric deficiencies such as the curvature in the S-Curve Area, and a need to accommodate growing travel demand.

In 2016, the NMDOT completed the I-25 South Corridor Study Phase 1B Final Report 2016 that made recommendations in multiple sections based off the earlier identified Purpose and Need.

With the ongoing safety concerns in the S-Curve area, the NMDOT recognizes the importance of taking a closer look in this one section to develop a more innovative solution to improve safety and mobility.

These efforts are summarized in reports from the NMDOT. Please note the reports are in English. If you need assistance translating, please email the study team at study@i25scurve.com.
